So what's your stance with brooms? Do you think they will ever come to the US version? I've heard two arguments both for and against it and I am on the fence in my opinion.

From my understanding of the situation, Japan has some pretty heavy gacha laws that require everything in a free phone game to be obtainable to a reasonable degree. So you see things like 3 orb mercy pulls and Mickey&Brooms in the Japanese version of the game to satisfy those laws.

Japan got M&B only four months into the game and the global version is starting its 11th month soon. Our premiums are only now starting to come with dots, and they are never guaranteed. The games are not only at different places in development, but different games altogether. From what I can tell of the global game, its purpose is to make money. So the question isn’t so much if it would help the game to release M&B, but if it would make them more money.

On one hand, it makes guilting easier. It means spending less money for the same outcome. But on the other hand, it allows more opportunity for players. It might inspire more people to play and the current players to spend more knowing their goals and aspirations can be achieved.

In my personal opinion, I am really unsure whether or not they will add M&B to the game. I see both arguments as being likely. But I do firmly believe that if they are added, it will be this April during the anniversary. If the anniversary comes and goes without M&B, I’ll firmly be in the “we aren’t going to get them” camp.

Loving all these questions!! Thank you!!

I am unable to beat the Phil & Herc event 160, the Hades one. Could I hope for some advice, please?

Absolutely!

All Hades fights are pretty much the same. His level is low, so Strength up medals - iKairi, Sebastian, Pooh, Piglet, etc. - and PSM medals - KH2 Kairi, Jack & Sally, WoFF medals, etc. - are going to be more useful than Defense down medals - iXion, HD Axel, Meg, etc. Hades is Magic so use Speed medals - Divine Rose is probably best.

The big thing here is his x3 PSM defense. You should get rid of that as soon as possible. Alice, Belle, Anti-form Sora, Zero, etc. are great ways to do this. If you keep dying, you should use Namine to steal his defenses before you clear them. You have two turns - later, three turns - to kill him, so don’t worry about getting a one-turn.

A really easy F2P build would be something like Pooh, Alice, Moana, Jack, Larxene B. This setup on DR will 1 turn Lv. 160 before you even get to your friend medal - I just tested it. ^_^

Hope this helped!!

So I too play the kh games, but don't understand one thing; Why is birth by sleep called that?

This is a great question.

The key quote in the series regarding this strange phrase is from Ansem the Wise: “A boy like him who touches so many hearts - he could open the right door and save all those people whose lives I managed to ruin. So many are still waiting for their new beginning, their birth by sleep. Even me. And even you.”

This vague idea is obviously subject to interpretation. Though it’s not expressly stated, the idea in the community (and according to Nomura, again, cryptically) is that “birth by sleep” is sort of like a renewal, or a redemption.  A beginning of things.  It’s more a spiritual birth in a way than a literal one.  A lot of this probably comes from the idea that “death” within the KH universe is unlike death in our universe. It is often not so concrete. Throughout the franchise, a lot of hearts are tied to Sora.  Especially given some lines in Dream Drop Distance, the implication is that Sora is probably the key to bringing about this spiritual rebirth, and in some instances, basically, reincarnation.  Then you have KHUx, the sleeping realm, the Dandelions, and the story of the end of the world from Kairi’s grandmother’s story.  There are a lot of threads at play here. What once probably started as a “cool sounding phrase” has really turned into a philosophical theme as the games went on.

But the BBS title specifically? It likely has to do with it being the beginning of things, the start of the cascade of events that led to everything. But also, by the end, almost every character is awaiting renewal, redemption, or a second chance.

[Edited for clarity - I was tired when I wrote this.]

I have illustrated kari should I still try to get sebastian? My friends says i should have both

Well, Sebastian and Ariel&Flounder are not in the Global game yet, but they should be after the holidays!  They both do the same thing - +3 Str for 1 turn - and are basically iKairi minus the heal.  Where Sebastian’s special cost is crazy high, A&F is the same as iKairi.  Since iKairi and A&F/Seb can’t stack, there’s really no reason to have two.

However!  Skills are important!  If you have Sebastian with a Cost 1, you could have an iKairi with a Defense Boost 3 or a Second Chance.  Or if you get A&F, you could use DB3 on that and Cost 1 on iKairi.  In this way, having multiples of essentially the same medal can be very useful!

In the JP version, Seb and A&F are from a high score challenge, similar to the TWEWY one.  I think you’ll probably get Sebastian without even trying!  A&F will be another story.

In short, yes, it is good to have both!  It’s always good to have more options.  But Sebastian won’t be essential to you the way it will be to players without iKairi.

Hope this helped!!

When you are the admin of a party in KHUx, is it rude to recruit players that are at a higher level than you? Thanks! -Level 20 And Unsure

Oh gosh no!  Not rude at all!  Back when I was level 210, I recruited a handful of level 230s.  Though I’m the leader of my party, I’m probably only the third or fourth strongest!  If you can cultivate a cool team of people, even as its weakest player, you are bringing something strong to the party.  That’s way more important than level. ^_^

Do you think that watching let's plays/walkthroughs are fine? If so, are there any recommended channels I should watch, and which game should I start with? I'm a broke person with little time.

Well, first and foremost, I really encourage everyone to play the games!  There are certain things video games do really well, and putting you in control of a character really heightens your emotions.  It brings out a lot of parallels between the playable character and yourself.  It makes the character’s actions your responsibility.  It brings out a lot of adrenaline and satisfaction you don’t get in Let’s Plays.  In a game like Kingdom Hearts, where emotion and connection is so important, I don’t think watching it on YouTube is a substitute for that.

But at the same time, I recognize that people don’t always have the means or time to play through a fifteen year old game series.  There are some people that are just outright don’t like video games but they love the story!  And Kingdom Hearts is a series I think everyone should experience, even if the medium doing so isn’t to perfection.  So I’ll say this.

If you honestly don’t think you’ll ever play the games, Let’s Plays are fine. ^_^

I’m not a person that has ever watched Let’s Plays so I really can’t advise any specific channels.  But I suggest your first time through you find a channel with

  1. no voice over.  The music and tone is way too good to have someone talking over it.
  2. has HD quality.
  3. will show gameplay and not only cutscenes so you get a better feel of actually playing the game.

As for the order, you should definitely follow my Beginner’s Guide!

With the upcoming PS4 release of just about every KH game, I’ve actually thought about doing Twitch streams or Let’s Plays when those games come out!  I had always wanted to do it on PS3 but sharing on that console was very difficult.  Of course, that won’t be until March when 1.5+2.5 gets a release!

I hope this helped!

Lastly, I understand this idea of Let’s Play and Twitch has really taken off, but honestly and truly, I still don’t get the appeal! o_o  As someone who really wants to encourage and spread the Kingdom Hearts franchise, I should ask: what do you guys think?  Do you want me to do Twitch/YouTube videos of the games?  Should I get a camera and mic for my PS4, or do you prefer straight gameplay?  Send me a message!! ^_^

Hey, sorry to be really dumb, but I just had a question! For strength (like the value next to the sword icon? I assume that's strength?), how come the value changes when you go into battle? Like out of battle my Marluxia is mega weak and like 7200, but in battle it says the strength is 12000 (aroundabout) and he does more damage than shared medals which outside of battle said they had higher strength? I hope that makes sense :( Thanks :)

Great question!  This confused me for a long time.

The in-battle sword icon is your attack value, or what damage you’d do ignoring the defense of your enemy.  It’s actually a combination of your medal strength, your Chips on that medal, and the multiplier slot it’s in.

For instance, my Terra is 7338 +1000, in a multiplier slot of x2.35 on Three Wishes. In battle his attack value is 19,594, which is just 8338 times 2.35.  It’s a handy measurement, so you know how much damage each medal is likely to do in-battle.

Friend medals are a little more complicated.  There’s no on-screen representation of a multiplier slot for a friend medal, which is why they are often thought of as less powerful.  But there is a multiplier for each Friend medal factored in based on keyblade level.  Roughly, a level 2 keyblade has about a x1.04 friend slot, while a level 20 keyblade has about a x1.30 friend slot.

My friend’s TVA+1000 is as follows on different keyblades:
MoG +5: 9050 ~ x1.13
SL +22: 11076 ~ x1.38
LL +25: 13198 ~ x1.64
DR +26: 13487 ~ x1.68

Special Attack Bonus and guilt are not factored into any of these, since it’s an optional multiplier in battle.

I hope this helps! (I actually learned a little bit on Friend medals while confirming this!)

P.S. Anything above 7000 base strength is very very good.  Often base strength is what makes a medal better or worse than another.

*feels so sorry for you after the new colliseum event stred and people will nag you about a guide of it soon* ♡ love youre blog!

You’re tellin’ me!

But actually I love putting up guides! I started this blog because there were so few resources for events in KHUX, and I thought “if I can’t find any, maybe I should make some!” Of course, I hope to expand this blog to other KH games, platforms, and trivia! Hopefully I can make some Proud/Critical guides for 2.8 when it comes out. ^_^

As for the event: I am two missions away from completing it. And you better believe when I do there will be a guide ready to go!!

Thanks for your support. <3 I firmly believe the fan asks are what make this blog so special!
