Hi, Im Kaci. I play too much Kingdom Hearts. If you've got questions, I've got answers.

sparkkeyper:

So after going through the entire Kingdom Hearts series, I’ve noticed something. King Mickey was not born royalty; he married into royalty by screwing around with the world order.

image

Mickey originally comes from Timeless River, the “Steamboat Willie”-themed world where he’s a deckhand with a reputation for being a lazy troublemaker. Nobody mentions any kind of existing royalty in that world, and certainly nobody treats Mickey like a prince, lazy or otherwise. We see early versions of Pete, Horace Horsecollar, Clara Cluck, etc. but do you notice someone missing?

Minnie. Minnie is not from Timeless River.

image

Minnie is princess of the Country of the Musketeers, the “Three Musketeers”-themed world from Dream Drop Distance. We see a younger Mickey here training to be a Musketeer on princess guard duty but we know he isn’t native because he tells Sora as much. He doesn’t understand when Sora calls him “Your Majesty”. If Mickey was a prince of any kind, that title wouldn’t be weird. It’s also clear that this world is not a version of Timeless River. (Though it does have a version of Pete, which may or may not be the same Pete from the rest of the series considering he has a peg leg in Country of the Musketeers. It’s kinda hard to grow back a leg. Then again, this is a series that runs on bloodless carnage and where people regularly come back from the dead, so who knows?)

Sometime later, in Yen Sid’s tower, we see an inexperienced Mickey as the sorcerer’s apprentice. Again, Sora instinctively starts with “Your Majesty” and Mickey is confused.

image

By the time Birth By Sleep rolls around, Mickey is still an apprentice to Yen Sid but he’s a king now. He and Minnie rule over Disney Town during the Million Dreams Festival, which is the newer incarnation of Timeless River. And is not at all a shameless plug for Disneyland or reference to the Disney parks’ Year of a Million Dreams, up to and including Ven being given actual goddamn park tickets.

(No I will not get over the blatant self-advertising.)

Disney Town goes on to become Disney Castle from KH1 on.

So basically, Mickey pulled Minnie out of her own world and back to his, where she reigned as queen and he married her and became king. So that means that all these regal-looking pictures of mice on the walls…

image

…are MINNIE’S ancestors, not Mickey’s. And also, since Disney Castle was not inherited but was built during their lifetime, those little 3-circle mouse heads everywhere?

image

Either it’s Mickey being phenomenally narcissistic, or more likely, they’re the royal seal of MINNIE’S family.

So the worlds have to stay separated and their existences have to stay secret, right, Mick?

Unless you find a hot girl. Then you can totally bring her back to yours.

This is a theory I’ve believed in for a long time. Also, it makes sense that Minnie’s home world is the home world of Donald and Goofy too, and that’s where Mickey first meets them! :D

Though I always thought the pictures throughout the castle were Mickey’s ancestors, but just like… normal people. Not royalty or anything. Just a map-maker or a notary or something. But I like the Minnie’s ancestors idea too!

Mickey & Minnie HSC Guide!

image

New High Score Challenge!  Though this HSC actually has a pretty fun design, SENA keeps our spirits low with terrible multipliers, no mercy pulls, and only two chances at trait rolls.

Rewards:

Mickey & Minnie and Pluto B.  M&M is General Defense Down by two tiers for one turn.  Which is great.  But it’s single target.  Pluto B is Power Defense Up by two tiers for one turn.  In short, M&M is pretty damn good (situationally) and Pluto is pretty damn bad (situationally).

To get M&M, score in the top 5k.  To roll for traits, you need 8 million, which will probably land you in the top 1k for guilt.

To get Pluto, just score a million points.  It’s pretty easy.  To guilt Pluto, score 4.5 million and land in the top 2k.

Honestly, neither of these medals are going to do you any good guilted.  You’re basically fighting for the right to have a chance at rolling the Extra Attack trait.

Multipliers:

Five medals you’ll never get and one 14% medal you can snag for 3k jewels.

I’m a little upset over the “no mercy” for HD Namine or Illustrated Roxas (21% each).  But I’m even more upset that the other three newbies (Yaoi Hand Ansem, Cat, and Ugly People; 10%) aren’t even guaranteed!  AND I AM EVEN MORE UPSET that we have no 7% multipliers!!

Anyway.  The enemy list:

First Room:
Lv. 50 Shadow [P]
Lv. 50 Soldier [S]
Lv. 50 Blue Rhapsody [M]

Pick your path:

Power
Lv. 100 Dire Plant x3
Lv. 150 Large Body x3
Lv. 200 Armored Knight x2
Lv. 250 Mega-Shadow
Lv. 300 Large Armor x2
Lv. 400 Morning Star
Lv. 500 Red Copter Fleet

Speed
Lv. 100 Chomper Egg x3
Lv. 150 Wibble Wobble x3
Lv. 200 Armored Archer x2
Lv. 250 Stinging Bee
Lv. 300 Aeroplane x2
Lv. 400 Cannon Gun
Lv. 500 Yellow Copter Fleet

Magic
Lv. 100 Bag O’ Coal x3
Lv. 150 Darkball x3
Lv. 200 Wizard x2
Lv. 250 White Rose
Lv. 300 Fire Plant x2
Lv. 400 Dark Plant
Lv. 500 Blue Copter Fleet

~*Target*~ Lv. 50 Shadow [P]

I didn’t mark down buffs and debuffs this time because by now we are all pretty well-acquainted with these enemies.  I’ll say that the Speed path definitely has the most buffs, so bring a cleanse if you think you’ll need it.  Other than that, go with whatever works best for you.  The Copter Fleet is obviously the biggest hurdle: Second Chance and really strong single target will be your go-to for this one.  Remember to build as much Str Up and Def Down as possible.  Take a friend’s KDG if you aren’t using a multiplier friend medal.

My 0% run ended at 4.78 million.  Based on the magic of math, that means you’ll need 67%, but I’m sure absolutely no one will agree with me.  Since there is no guarantee in the entire medal draw this time around, getting anything over 14% (35% with a friend medal) is just sheer luck.  And for what?  Two chances at rolling Extra Attack on M&M?  I dunno.  Doesn’t seem like very good odds.  Even at 1900 jewels per pull, it’s still littered with Tier 2s.

And so continues my unending decline into pessimism.  These HSC used to be fun, right?  Right…?

Coliseum - August 2016

Like last month, since the NA version hates its users, you need to clear Round 30 of Tier 10 to finish both the blue and pink avatar boards.  Plus side: THE OUTFITS ARE SO DAMN CUTE!

So what are you working toward?  Other than the outfits, the boards have:
Summer Mickey (blue): Paralysis, Attack Boost I, Attack Boost All I, 2x Dale +150, 2x Chip +150, 4x Dale +25, 3x Chip +25, 2x Cid, Title: Lonely
Summer Minnie (pink): Sleep, Defense Boost I, Poison, 2x Dale +150, 2x Chip +150, 3x Dale +25, 4x Chip +25, 2x Cid, Title: Warrior
Total: +775 Chip, +775 Dale, -4 Cid, AB1, AB All 1, DB1, Poison, Paralysis, Sleep, and Titles: Lonely, Warrior

Each board is 1100 coins each to finish board.  When you complete Tier 9 you will have 1900 coins.  At 10 coins per level, that means beating Tier 10, Round 30 to unlock everything.  It’s easier than it sounds, though.

Make sure to rank in the top 50,000 for the hats and sunglasses!!  If you manage 30/999 you’re basically guaranteed to be in the top 10,000.

You can also get Attack Prize Plus (such an amazing skill!) for ranking in the top 2,500.  That one might be harder.

Here’s the enemies you’ll encounter by round number:

x1: (All Power type)
~Shadow x7
~Large Body, Shadow x3
~Large Armor, Shadow x3
Strategy: One good Magic AOE card for the shadows.  Poison can help with the Large enemies.  Be patient in high tiers, don’t waste Special.  Larges have high defense but weak attack.

x2: (All Magic type)
~Candy Apple x2
~Poison Apple, Candy Apple
~Poison Apple x2
Strategy: Apples can poison and lower defense.  Bring Minnie.  Take one of the two Apples out as soon as you can.

x3: (All Speed type)
~Yellow Gummi Copter x3
~Black Gummi Copter
~Black Gummi Copter, Yellow Gummi Copter x3
Strategy: Dangerous in numbers.  Take out the yellow ones fast, then take your time with the black ones.  They all have defense ups of some sort.

x4: (Magic, but Bandits are Speed)
~Red Bandit x3
~Red Bandit, Bandit x2
Strategy: Olympia’s forte.  If you can’t AOE them down fast enough, single target one and then take your time with the other two.  They sometimes heal at low health.  They sometimes boost their attacks.  Dangerous in numbers.  Minnie helps.  Take on the ones on the left first - they are harder.

x5: (All Power type)
~Shadow
~Shadow
~Wyvern
~Wyvern
Strategy: Wyverns hit like trucks.  They have Attack Boost too.  Bring Defense Boost.  Bring Minnie - you’ll need her.  Hit the first Wyvern, then the Shadows to refill health and Special.  Then the second Wyvern.  Wyverns can be paralyzed and poisoned, to help out!

x6: (All Speed type)
~Hook Bat x2
~Search Ghost, Hook Bat x2
~Search Ghost x2
Strategy: Search Ghosts don’t follow the rules.  They attack with AB +1, +2, or +3 whenever they want.  Not dying is basically luck and DB.  Kill the Hook Bats fast.  Take your time on the Ghost.  In the x2 fight, NUKE one of them.  Then take your time on the second.  They are only a threat when there is more than one thing hitting you.

x7: (All Magic type)
~(Caution) Ice Plant, Possessor x2
~(Caution) Fire Plant, Possessor
~Dark Plant, Possessor x2
Strategy: Cautions hit first.  Ice paralyzes/sleeps.  It sucks.  Just do an AOE to get rid of the Possessors and hope you can use Minnie if you need her.  Fire is easiest, IMO.  Take your time.  No Special is necessary except Minnie.  Dark is both easy and hard.  AOE the Possessors.  Then you’ll either have to paralyze Dark, use a lot of Special to take down those last two bars, or let him run out of healing (which he seems to after two or so heals).  When he gets to his last bar, he tends to heal another full bar.  It’s annoying.  Be patient.

x8: (All Speed type)
~Neoshadow
~Neoshadow x2
~Neoshadow x3
Strategy: The only real threat here is numbers.  Paralyze, Poison can take care of the single one, and pretty much the x2 as well.  The third one is where your Special is needed.  Burn down one as quick as possible.  Bring Minnie.  Neos hit hard.

x9: (All Power type)
~Gummi Hammer
~Gummi Hammer
~Gummi Hammer
~Gummi Hammer
Strategy: I have absolutely no problem with this one.  Paralyze, Poison are your friends.  I never use any Special on this round.

x0: (All Magic type)
~Possessor x3
~Possessor x3
~Wretched Witch, Possessor x2
Strategy: I know I say this a lot, but Paralyze, Poison, Minnie makes quick work of the witch.  Pop on a good Speed AOE for the Possessors and you’re home free.  I use Olympia for the extra bars on this one.

***I know I say to use Minnie a lot.  She’s basically required at this point in Coliseum.  If you don’t have any friends with her, send me a message and I’ll add you to my group for a couple days so you can borrow mine.  If you don’t have Paralysis/Poison, you can get them from the Coliseum boards!***

Good luck!!  Have a good August!!
