EDIT: Farmable medals don’t have a lot of practical purpose anymore. Even beginning the game now, one or two pulls during an Epic Medal Carnival will easily outrank even guilted farmables. HOWEVER. Farmables can be used for NOVA leveling, which is still very important. There are 90 levels total - 6 levels per farmable.
~~~
There are 15 medals in the game that are farmable: that is, medals that can be obtained from story quests. All of them are Tier 1 guilt (10-25%) but they can be a very helpful boost early in the game or if you’re not getting the draws you want! Here’s a list of what they are, where to get them!
(All of them can be found in other places! I tried to pick missions with a decent drop rate that drop 2* instead of 1*, since they’ll be easier to level and guilt.)
(Specifically Mission 81 drops four or five different farmables, so it’s a great place to start!)
So what’s worth it? For Power, Goofy and Young Herc. Goofy costs less than Paine and has higher strength. For Speed, Stitch’s single target is awesome, and Rikku has best AOE. For Magic, Yuna is the way to go. Jiminy is nice, but don’t guilt him. The Twilight Trio is easily replaced by Diz, Aerith, or Vivi.
You can also farm up the evolve medals in the following missions, though the drop rates can be pretty low sometimes. All of them drop from Pretender chests:
KHUX loves to put out events for their medal draws, which is good, because their usual “10 for 3k” is terrible. Today we’re going to talk about the Mighty Deal.
The Big Mighty Deal guarantees two 6* medals, but that’s not the best part. Each of those 6* comes with three orbs of guilt. (If you don’t know what guilt is, click here.) Each medal essentially needs six circles to get it’s guilt bonus. That means each of these 6* cards is halfway there!
Now for the bad news. Those 6* cards could be anything. They could be farmable medals, which only give up to 25% extra damage. One of the advantages of the Japanese version is that these farmable medals were removed from the medal draws. And there is zero chance of getting limited edition medals like Sephiroth or Sora and Pals, which is a huge drawback.
So is it worth it?
Here’s my general rule. Whenever you do a pull, make sure you keep EVERY medal that isn’t farmable. (Here’s a list.) Some are pointless to keep, like Daisy, who even if guilted will always be worse than Minnie. But every other one you should be trying to guilt. Yeah, this means you wind up with tons of medals, but this also means you are working on guilting multiple medals. And when draws are all chance, that’s important.
If you’re new to the game or you don’t have a lot of Tier 2 guilt cards (I would say at least one per type) then the Mighty Deal could be really great for you! Not only do you get two three-orb 6* medals, but you have a chance at orbs in any of the other medals you pull! This could be really good for the Free-to-Play player who knows they won’t be finishing those Adamantite quests for a long time. It’s a huge boost of power if you get a nice pull, and often guilting is more important than getting an epic medal!
If you’ve already got a handful of guilted cards (5 or more) then this probably doesn’t mean much. Epic Medal Carnivals are going to guarantee you an epic, often two depending on the event. Guilting those is game-breaking.
(For reference, I have 8 Tier 2 guilted medals and I don’t buy this deal).
As for the Big vs Mini: that 150 strength is really nice, but it’s not a make-or-break reward. If you can’t afford a Big, Mini has most of the same benefits.
tldr: Don’t have many guilts? Buy it. Got guilts? Don’t buy it.
Once you hit Mission 200 34, you get an item called a Power Bangle. That means little symbols appear next to those empty circles in your 6* medals:
You fill those bubbles by combining identical cards. By combining 6, the guilt icon lights up and it give you a percent multiplier to your special attack.
However, there are four eight (and counting!) tiers of guilt, to complicate things even further, and you can tell which tier a medal is by the guilt symbol by the bubbles a little number above the Level Up button (not shown in picture). Each Tier has its own maximum and minimum percentages.
(Thanks KHinsider for such an awesome infographic.)
So how do you get better guilt? Well, each tier generally represent its rarity. Also, the lower the tier, the fewer stars you can get it in. For instance, there is no such thing as a 1* Sephiroth, because he is a Tier 4. Olette, however, can be 1* all the way through 6*.
Tier 1: Farmable - 1* to 6* - like Stitch and Olette above, these can be rewarded from completing missions. Sometimes event medals that are easy to farm are also Tier 1. If you’ve got some free time and 15 dollars, you can get all the Tier 1 guilts without too much hassle. Tier 2: Rare- 3* to 6* - only from medal pulls and events. If you save your medals after each pull, these are completely doable for a F2P player. All based on chance. Tier 3: Epic - 5* to 6* - They go up to 100% which is amazing! But getting an epic medal is very rare unless you do pulls during the Epic Medal Carnivals. Even then, there are already tons of Epics and it’s hard to get the same one seven times. Tier 4+: Premium - 6* only - They are available exclusively through medal draws and Ranked events, and are consistently the best medals in the game. Guilting them is a real show of ability and/or luck.
Here’s an example of what a Tier 4 Guilt looks like on a medal:
So now that you know what Guilt is, we should talk about how to get it! Obviously you need 7 of each medal type, but leveling seven medals to 6* and combining them sounds like a pain, doesn’t it? In order for the orbs to fill, the combined medals have to be the same star. That is, a 5* Mickey when combined with a 6* Mickey won’t give you an orb, and you will have wasted a good Mickey! Only a 6* can be combined with a 6*, 5* with 5*, and so on. But there are limitations!
That means you can’t combine a 1* and a 1*, you have to combine a 3* and a 3*. Here’s an example of a 5* with only three orbs:
The most economical route is to combine your 7 medals together at the lowest level, so you have fewer to level up! Obviously if you are working with Tier 3 guilt medals, it becomes less complicated as they start at 5*, or even LESS complicated with Tier 4, since everything is 6* already. Here’s a great infographic from KHinsider on the optimum way to guilt medals.
As you can see, you always need 7 of the medal you want. Combining two medals together that already have an orb will actually add an additional orb (for the one holding the orb)! In short, a 5* with one orb combined with a 5* with one orb equals a 5* with three orbs. That’s because there are always four medals that you’re working with.
When guilting, the ideal is a 5* with three orbs and a 5* with two orbs. Make them both into 6*s, then combine the two. That is 4 (medal+3) and 3 (medal+2) = 7 (medal+5+guilt). It sounds crazy, but once you do it once, it’ll make sense.
Things to remember: ~Only combine medals that are identical - same medal ID, same medal name, same amount of stars. (The exception to this is that the level of the medal doesn’t matter.) ~DO NOT DO THIS UNTIL MISSION 200 34!! Or you won’t get guilt. You can only get the 5 orbs. ~If you are unsure, check the preview. It will show blinking orbs where the orbs will be filled in. ~If you get a bad roll - say, 20% on a Tier 2, when you want a 50% - leveling up another 6* and combining it /again/ will re-roll your guilt. Guilt cannot be re-rolled LOWER than what you had, so there’s no downside. Of course, this means you will need 8 medals instead of 7. ~Magic Mirrors are given out during events. They increase your Guilt on one medal by 1%. So if you roll a 48% on a Tier 2, don’t worry. You can get up to 50% with 2 Magic Mirrors.
That’s all! Any questions, feel free to message me!
Edit: The coveted Fantasia Mickey B (Mickey & Brooms) was added to the game. This adds one dot to any medal. If there are five dots, it activates guilt. If it has guilt, it rerolls guilt. They are still very rare though so use them wisely! Preferably on Tier 7+ medals.
New summer-themed avatar outfits! And a new raid boss event! The boards have Cids, Nephews, Chips, Dales, and Moogles, plus an outfit each, a bracelet each, and sunglasses on the blue board only. (This means the pink board comes with an extra Huey&Dewey&Louie.)
This Raid event is just like the last one: beat a prize-egg level and have a chance to spawn the boss. Between 1-2p, 5-6p, and 8-9p Pacific Time you have doubled encounter rate, which can be helpful!
To complete both boards, you need 4,080 coins. Each boss drops 30-35 for victory, 20-25 for MVP/Host, and 20-25 All Points Defeated. Assuming you get MVP or Host for each one, that’s 70-85 coins per. At an average of 77, you’ll need to kill 53 raid bosses to complete both boards, or 27 for one board.
Luckily, the Submarine Carp is way easier than the Fortress Crabs. It starts at 20k health and goes up by a couple thousand each level. At level 7, it’s 37k. On a 20 minute timer, this makes the event very manageable, but time consuming.
August 14th is the last day for the event. Good luck!!
Two days left in the event!! Some updates:
~Raids give more coins the higher the level, though the increase is not enough. ~Health gets exponential: Level 24 has 204k health and gives 85-100 coins. ~Title for the Pink board is: I Am ~Not sure about the blue one yet Title for the Blue board is: Actually
Until August 21st, everything is 0 AP! It’s a great time to do the raid boss event while you watch a TV show.
Additionally, all Adamantite Challenges are unlocked. So go bash your head against those!
And finally, 20 free skip tickets. Now skip tickets let you skip a mission only after getting all three Mickeys on that mission. It’s good for Evolve medals with long levels like Fantasia Mickey and the 5* fairies. Don’t go wasting them on EXP medals though - those missions are super easy!!
If there’s any time to buy a 3000 jewel pack it’s probably next week. With 0 AP and all the bonuses, plus the upgrade VIP missions, it’s an amazing way to max out your medals!
I’m going to make this one short and snappy, since it took me five days to make this guide. I finally got enough money together to do a 10 medal draw (of course, I didn’t get that amazing Illustrated Sora card!!), and I beat the score challenge. Here’s the skinny.
Top 5000 people get a Roxas, Axel, and Xion medal! It costs zero special to use, and it does… something! We don’t know yet. Obviously the higher rank you are, the more you get, so to guilt it you need to be in the top 200.
The goal is to kill whatever you can with the highest multiplier you can get. Here’s a shot of all the multipliers this week:
The new Illustrated Sora and Riku are the best of the best (+21%) and have an amazing ability (+2 type-attack for 1 turn, plus high damage!). Doing a 10 medal roll is a good call right now because you are guaranteed one of the five new epic medals, PLUS one additional epic medal. And it’ll help with the HSC.
So onto the actual level!
Like always, go straight for the difficult ones and see which ones you can kill. There are three Level 200 groups in this HSC and all of them are to the upper right when you start. They are as follows:
Two Gargoyles (Speed, almost four health bars each): Kill one AS FAST AS POSSIBLE. One of them does a lot of damage, two of them can one shot you. Bring Defense Boost. Bring Minnie. Bring something that can do crazy high damage (single target is best). If you can take one down in two turns, you should be fine.
One Gargoyle (Speed, almost four health bars): Get your gauge back up - there are tons of chests around to do this. This guy is the exact same as the other ones, but there’s only one of him. If you have Minnie, he’s pretty easy.
Three Cannon Guns (Speed, just over four health bars): I cannot beat these guys. They have x2 type-defense and x3 attack. Maybe a non-attribute hit (Shadow?) or using Alice to clear their defense? Unfortunately that’s single-target, and it doesn’t take away their x3 attack (which they get after your turn ends). Second chance might be required. I tried to use Namine to mimic their defense, but it wasn’t enough.
Even without killing the three Cannon Guns, I still pulled 473k at 28% (that’s two Timeless River medals) which put me in 980th place. So even if you can’t beat one of the groups, still do the mission! And even if you can’t get in the top 5000, the rewards include Chips, Dales, Magic Mirrors, Nephew medals, Cids, Moogles, and Attack and Defense Boosts! It’s worth trying, even if you don’t rank well. ^_^
My setup: Olympia (for the 18 bars): -Aerith (Strength Buff + DB1) -DiZ (Strength Buff + Poison) -Timeless Goofy (14% + Poison) -KH2 Leon B +1000/Guilted (High Single-Target damage + AB2) -Minnie (Heal + DB2) -Friend: Timeless Sora (14% + Paralyze)
If I had a friend card that had 21% that would be even better!! But alas…
Anyway! Good luck! Have fun! If you have any questions feel free to message me! If you need a Minnie or a Timeless medal, message me and I’ll add you to my party for a couple days!
