Hi, Im Kaci. I play too much Kingdom Hearts. If you've got questions, I've got answers.

do you think this new HSC is as frustating as the Vanitas¿? cause it's really painfull to me to not being able to reach that scores... U_U even more with the fact that [EX]Cloud is not a highscore+ again...

Admittedly, I haven’t even tried the new HSC yet >/////< It’s been a really hectic week.  My girlfriend’s birthday and our six month anniversary are in the same week so I’ve been making gifts in my free time (because I’m too poor to buy her anything *cries*).  I’m surprised I found time for the Saix guide!

However, my party members seem to have an easier time with this HSC than the last one.

iDonald HSC Guide

Ohhh jeeze here comes another High Score Challenge!  Let’s talk rewards first:

Rewards:
Illustrated Donald: General Defense Down by two tiers, single target.  And just like in the other KH games, he doesn’t heal you.  He’s basically a magic version of Mickey&Minnie from two HSC ago.
Donald & Daisy: Speed/Magic Str +2 tiers.  Basically the SM equivalent of Aladdin&Abu from the last HSC.

Multipliers:

image

A nice spread of Pay to Win, Free Giveaway, and Haha Good Luck.  KA#9 is four medals for 15 dollars right now, which is great for people with money and bad for the 42%-56% multiplier range.  If you buy the KA#9 weekly deal, make sure not to combine the medals just yet.  Luckily, this event runs one day into next week for the dummies ((cough cough Chloe)) who combined their medals already.

Enemy List:
This HSC is old-school.  No paths, no screen lockouts.  Go straight for the hard enemies and refill SP on the weak ones early in the mission.

Guilt:
iDonald: You need to place in the top 1k and get 22.5 million to guilt him.  You get two trait rolls in this instance.  Extra Attack would be great!
D&D: You get four for getting 15 mil, which is pretty easy.  Then you have to place in the top 2k to guilt him.  Again, Extra Attack is what you’re aiming for.

I got almost 13 million with 0%, so the 22.5 million for the final reward would require something like 73%.  But I have a party member that did it with 56%, so what do I know?

Alright!  That’s it!  Have fun guys!

Aladdin HSC Guide

Let’s just assume we know what we’re doing now with this HSC stuff.  This time there are three paths - one for each type.  You’ll have to pick one and you can’t go back after you leave the screen.

Rewards:
Aladdin & Genie [M] - raises Speed and Magic strength by two tiers for two turns for 2 gauges.  That’s pretty rad.  Especially if you can get Extra Attack on it!  You get these by getting 7.25 million points or coming in the top 5k.

Aladdin & Abu [S] - same as above, but only for one turn.  And Speed.  And 4 SP instead of 2.  You get these by getting 3 million points or coming in the top 20k.

Score:
I pulled about 4.4 million at 0%, which means you should need 65% to hit 7.25 mil.  But in actuality I hit 7.7 mil at 63%, so…

With this week’s pay to win incentive (iHT Sora) 7.25 is pretty easy to get.  A few people are sharing KA 6 and 7 too, which helps a lot.  Don’t worry about rankings so much as getting that 7.25 reward.

Guilt:
To guilt A&G you need 7.25 mil and be in the top 1k.  7.25 will NOT get you in the top 1k - it’ll probably be more like 9 mil by the end of the event.  Luckily, guilting isn’t that important.  If you can get 7.25 mil and Top 5k, you have two trait rolls and that’s all that matters.

To guilt A&A you need 7 mil and top 2k.  But getting 7 mil gets you four trait rolls no matter how you rank. (Top 1k does get another trait roll…)

Alright, that’s about it.  Good luck everyone!!

Mickey & Minnie HSC Guide!

image

New High Score Challenge!  Though this HSC actually has a pretty fun design, SENA keeps our spirits low with terrible multipliers, no mercy pulls, and only two chances at trait rolls.

Rewards:

Mickey & Minnie and Pluto B.  M&M is General Defense Down by two tiers for one turn.  Which is great.  But it’s single target.  Pluto B is Power Defense Up by two tiers for one turn.  In short, M&M is pretty damn good (situationally) and Pluto is pretty damn bad (situationally).

To get M&M, score in the top 5k.  To roll for traits, you need 8 million, which will probably land you in the top 1k for guilt.

To get Pluto, just score a million points.  It’s pretty easy.  To guilt Pluto, score 4.5 million and land in the top 2k.

Honestly, neither of these medals are going to do you any good guilted.  You’re basically fighting for the right to have a chance at rolling the Extra Attack trait.

Multipliers:

Five medals you’ll never get and one 14% medal you can snag for 3k jewels.

I’m a little upset over the “no mercy” for HD Namine or Illustrated Roxas (21% each).  But I’m even more upset that the other three newbies (Yaoi Hand Ansem, Cat, and Ugly People; 10%) aren’t even guaranteed!  AND I AM EVEN MORE UPSET that we have no 7% multipliers!!

Anyway.  The enemy list:

~*Target*~ Lv. 50 Shadow [P]

I didn’t mark down buffs and debuffs this time because by now we are all pretty well-acquainted with these enemies.  I’ll say that the Speed path definitely has the most buffs, so bring a cleanse if you think you’ll need it.  Other than that, go with whatever works best for you.  The Copter Fleet is obviously the biggest hurdle: Second Chance and really strong single target will be your go-to for this one.  Remember to build as much Str Up and Def Down as possible.  Take a friend’s KDG if you aren’t using a multiplier friend medal.

My 0% run ended at 4.78 million.  Based on the magic of math, that means you’ll need 67%, but I’m sure absolutely no one will agree with me.  Since there is no guarantee in the entire medal draw this time around, getting anything over 14% (35% with a friend medal) is just sheer luck.  And for what?  Two chances at rolling Extra Attack on M&M?  I dunno.  Doesn’t seem like very good odds.  Even at 1900 jewels per pull, it’s still littered with Tier 2s.

And so continues my unending decline into pessimism.  These HSC used to be fun, right?  Right…?

Chip & Dale HSC Guide, I guess?

So.  New High Score Challenge, if you can call it that.  Since there’s no challenge.  And high score means nothing.  I was actually really sour when I first saw the notice because the multipliers are mostly the same as HD Beast.  The rich get richer, you know?

But then I did the mission.

Uh.  Good luck.

HSC - HD Beast Guide

image

High Score Challenge!  Yay!  Unfortunately, it’s pretty directed toward multiplier again, and only the new medals are giving multipliers.  This time around you get the HD Beast medal, which is +3 Power based Strength.  Basically, he’s the Power version of Ursula.

The multipliers this time around include Key Art 4, Illustrated Leon, Xehanort & Vanities, and HD Roxas at 21%.  Then Illustrated Belle and Beast at 14%.  And lastly, the three new Epic medals at 10%.

Let’s get to the enemy list, then I’ll rant.

Strategy:
This HSC is obviously geared toward iB&B, which gives the iKairi buff and a cleanse.  Almost every group has a buff.  That being said, with a few good WoFF medals you can ignore this intention.  Though if you did pay for the iB&B missions this week (or next week), keeping a few separate medals is a good idea to act as multiplier bonuses for those who aren’t lucky enough or don’t want to try pulling a premium.

Rewards:
HD Beast takes the place of Ariel&Flounder and Sora&Donald&Goofy B, wherein the top 1000 places get 5 and anyone over 17 million gets two.  This means to guilt it you need 17 million minimum.  Like Beast’s predecessors, this is a pretty high multiplier.

At 0%, I got about 9.5 million, which means you’ll need about a 78% multiplier.  That’s iB&B, two premiums, and a friend’s premium. (Technically that’s only 77%! o_o) Another alternative is two iB&B, 3 epic 10% medals, and a shared premium.  But you probably won’t pull the numbers needed to kill those Copter Fleets…

If you aren’t looking to guilt, you only need the top 5k to get one HD Beast.

And unlike previous HSC, this one doesn’t have a second tier reward (think Sebastian or Young King Mickey).  Though maybe we should take solace in the fact that the multiplier requirement isn’t in the 90s this time?

Honestly, I’m a little disillusioned.  I don’t love really hard HSC that take me hours to make a guide for (this one is taking me about half an hour, btw), but the new format of “You need 80% multiplier to have a chance at guilting!!” is really unappealing to me.  I don’t even try, to be honest.  It’s just spending money.  I don’t have money.  And without a second medal to even have a chance at guilting…

Anyway, sorry to bring you all down.  I’ve been doing homework for like 12 hours straight.  I’m exhausted. XD

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!  Event ends 3/23!! Congrats to the eight people who get guilted HD Beast!!

HSC Guide ~ Sora & Donald & Goofy B

image

New High Score Challenge!  This HSC has a lot going on medal-wise, so let’s do a quick breakdown.

There are only six multipliers, which is sort of a dick move on SENA’s part.  Four of them - HD B, HG B, Shark, and F&J are 10% and one of them is guaranteed from each 10 pull during the event.  Then Key Art 3 (14%) and Ursula (21%) are the premiums, which have no mercy pull but come with three dots already.  Why KA3 is less than Ursula I cannot fathom.  Money-grabbing I guess.

There’s more to say about this, but let’s get the enemy list out first.

Right to left, in sort of a zig-zag fashion:

Lv. 180 Yellow Copter Fleet* (S)
Lv. 180 Invisible (S)
Lv. 350 Red Copter Fleet***** (P)
Lv. 120 Fire Plant (M)
Lv. 25 Bandit x3 (S)

Lv. 120 High Wizard (M) & Fire Plant (M)

Lv. 25 Blue Gummi Copter (M) x3
Lv. 120 Aeroplane*** (S)
Lv. 80 Ice Plant (M) & Blue Gummi Copter x2 (M)
Lv. 180 Wyvern (P)**
Lv. 150 Gargoyle (S) & Aeroplane*** (S)
Lv. 200 High Wizard (M) x2
Lv. 150 Large Armor (P)
Lv. 180 Chocolate Gargoyle*** (S) x2
Lv. 300 Red Copter Fleet***** (P)
Lv. 250 Cannon Gun**** (S) & Fat Bandit (P)

~*Target*~ Lv. 25 Bandit (S)

*SM Def +2
**Str +1
***Def +2
****PSM Def +2
*****PS Def +2

As you can see, the “ignores attribute” damage of WoFF medals are a huge advantage here.  The Red Fleets are probably going to be your biggest problem with their high damage output and multiple hits, plus that type defense.  You can Defense Boost through the Fat Bandit pretty easily.  You should always try to attack the Red Fleets first so you don’t waste time retrying if you get killed.  If you don’t have good WoFF medals, you should be stacking magic medals. (I suppose that’s Ursula’s role, if you manage to pull her.)  On another note, Flotsam & Jetsam lower strength by one tier for one turn so it might help survivability during multiplier runs.  Moana + Classic Donald is a great F2P model, but you’re going to need some AB2/3 and a decent Nova.  Then there’s always Sleep+.

Rewards:

So there are two new reward medals: the tier 4 premium Sora & Donald & Goofy B and the epic Young King Mickey.  Both ignore target attributes, but SDG B is AOE and YKM is single target.  SDG B is also only one cost.

The first YKM you get is at 10 million points, which is a full clear with 0% multiplier.  If you manage to get to 20 million, you’ll have a total of 4 YKM.  In Ranking, you can get one in the top 20k.  The easiest way to guilt here is Top 2k with 20 million points, which I find incredibly unrealistic.  But we’ll get to that.

SDG B is rewarded to the top 5k but is only guilted in the top 1k with at least 23 million points.  Since my 0% run got me 11.56 million, you’re looking at around a 100% multiplier.

For the sake of our own personal sanity, let’s say you only need 91%.  That’s three Ursulas and two KA3.  Your extra slot in this case would go to iKairi.  Let’s assume you can take a friend’s Ursula.  But you’ll need another Ursula because you’ll need at least one guilted to get enough damage to take out those Red Fleets in one turn.  That’s a lot of luck - five premiums in however many pulls you do.  And the truth of the matter is, you’ll probably need 98%, which is even less likely.  Hell, you could pull 10 KA3 and still not have the necessary multiplier to guilt SDG B!  O_O  How’s that for perspective?

So then we come back to YKM, which is requiring 20 million.  That’s still at least 66%.  Taking a friend’s Ursula, you’d need a full load out of the 10% epic medals to get that percentage.  And with those medals, you won’t clear the Fleets.  So you need at least one premium to guilt YKM.

Four hours ago I was a little excited for this event.  I was actually checking my finances to see if I had a hundred bucks spare cash, because two guaranteed guilted premiums sounded too good to pass up.  Now, I’m not sure I’ll pull at all.  Tieri and Anniversary event are soon, and if there’s no chance at guilting even YKM…

This event frustrates me…

Anyway.  Good luck.  I’ll be praying for all your 10-pulls!!

Your cynical guide-writer,
<3 KCM

Edit: Here’s a video guide for F2P players.

Ariel & Flounder HSC Guide!

Hey we finally got a real event!  Yay!  The long awaited Ariel&Flounder - and to a lesser degree Sebastian - is a catch-up mechanic for the people who never got iKairi.  They both increase Strength by 3 tiers for one turn, A&F for 3 cost and Seb for 6 cost.  Even if you have iKairi, these medals are still useful for other skills, specifically a DB3 or Second Chance on A&F for things like raid bosses and other one-hit mechanics.  This frees up iKairi for Cost 1 at the end of this month’s Coliseum.  Lastly, if you’re a new player or you just aren’t able to compete, getting a Cost 1 from the top 10k Coliseum this month and using it on Sebastian puts you on par with most of the player base (minus iKai’s heal).  This is a really great event, especially for F2P players.

Just like previous HSC, you move from room to room and kill what you can.  You cannot go back to previous rooms this time and there is no selecting a specific path.  There are a ton of Special chests so medals like Key Art aren’t going to be that beneficial.

Each pack you encounter will have 3 enemies, one of each type.  This fits into the World of Final Fantasy medals which ignore attributes (which I think means it always gets type advantage hits).  The seven WoFF medals are also your only multipliers and they pack quite a punch.  Each WoFF medal also has an AOE buff to help you along the way.

Here’s a list of the enemies:

Room 1:
Lv. 25 Shadow (P) & Possessor (M) & Soldier (S)
Lv. 50 Bag O’ Jewels (S) & Bag O’ Coals (M) & Bag O’ Coins (P)

Room 2:
Lv. 75 Blue Gummi Copter (M) & Yellow Gummi Copter (S) & Red Gummi Copter (P)
Lv. 100 Armored Knight (P) & Wizard (M) & Armored Archer (S)
Lv. 120 Ice Plant (M) & Dire Plant (S) & Red Rose (P)

Room 3:
Lv. 150 Search Ghost (S) & Defender (P) & Fire Plant (M)
Lv. 200 Large Armor (P) & White Rose (M) & Air Soldier (S)
Lv. 250 High Wizard (M) & Invisible (S) & Morning Star (P)

Room 4:
Lv. 275 Hammer Frame (P) & Cannon Gun (S) & Wayward Wardrobe (M)
Lv. 300 Blue Copter Fleet (M) & Red Copter Fleet (P) & Yellow Copter Fleet (S)

Room 5:
Lv. 400 Black Copter Fleet (S) & Blue Copter Fleet (M) & Red Copter Fleet (P)
(Probably more, I haven’t killed this one yet)

As for strategy, multipliers are going to be a big advantage.  Stacking iKairi or equivalent with three WoFF medals and a huge damage medal like Marluxia B on Divine Rose will net you a ton of points.  Your absolute best friend medal you can grab will be WoFF Sora with Sleep+, which will be essential to getting past the Lv. 400 group.

As for the score, I got 12 million with 0% dying halfway through the Lv. 400 group. The easiest Sebastian to get at 2.5 million, which seems obtainable to almost anyone with a pull of the WoFF banner. The easiest guilt for Sebastian is scoring in the top 2000 with 20 million points or getting in the top 1000. The easiest A&F you can get is to score in the top 5000. To guilt A&F you need to be in the top 1000 with 25 million points.

Also, Speed gems are trickled in those rankings.

So what’s the consensus?  If you have J&S and iKairi, this event is mostly just for fun.  With the nerfs to WoFF medals, they don’t matter very much.  The attribute-ignoring powers are pretty cool though so I might recommend you grab at least one.  Getting a Speed one for Olympia or a Magic one for DR could be great too.  Stocking up on an extra A&F or Sebastian can be great for when Proud mode comes around.

If you’re a F2P player or you don’t have J&S or iKairi, the WoFF medals can be really useful and A&F/Seb is absolutely necessary.  This event is literally for you.

Alright that’s all.  If you happen to know what enemies lie beyond what I’ve managed to complete please leave it in the comments below and I’ll add it to the guide!

Good luck!!

HSC ~ Jafar Guide

image

Another High Score Challenge!  Though these are my favorite in-game event, they are probably my least favorite guide to make.  This time we get Jafar and Jafar-Genie, which to everyone’s disappointment are not the Little Mermaid medals.  They are both damage medals that are stronger the later they are used on a keyblade.  In other words, Slot 5 would be stronger than Slot 1.

This HSC is back to the classics.  As you traverse four screens, the enemies get harder and harder.  You can go back to previous screens and there is only one pathway.  Here’s your multiplier list:

image

The 21% multipliers are the two most recently added premiums: Illustrated Xion and HD Axel.  In another predictable Square-signature dick move, HD Mickey is at 10%.  HD Riku and Illustrated Xemnas are also sitting at 10%.  Basically, only premiums are worth anything.  But you’ll find some freebies trickled in there at 7%, like Christmas Sora, Larxene B, and the Moana medals.

Strategy:
Although you’ll see all three types in this mission, almost all the powerful ones are Speed.  This means Treasure Trove, Olympia, and Moogle O’ Glory are your options.  Though Olympia has the highest power multiplier, it only has one usable slot, where TT and MoG both offer more Power-heavy slots.  But Magic is less effective against Speed, which makes MoG a little less desirable.  At the moment I’m thinking my TT is doing the best, given this mission has so many extra Special chests.

For your first run, you should go about the mission as normal and see where your problem areas are.  The Invisibles in Room 3 and the Gargoyles in Room 4 were the worst for me. (I still can’t beat the Cannon Guns, and I probably never will.) Once you identify where you’re most likely to die, head straight there and fight those enemies first.  DB procs don’t help a lot since all the big enemies are in groups, so Second Chance or Sleep+ are basically essential.  After you kill two of your problem groups by relying on procs, clear out the entire level before confronting what will wind up being your final foe.  Do as much damage as you can before you die.

Always save the Special chests and Gift Shadows for when you need them.  Also, leave enemies in the first screen and the Hook Bats in the second alive to refill special later on.  A full clear will net you between 19-21 million.  Though multipliers are always important, don’t let them stand in the way of clearing an extra group of enemies.

Rewards:
There are four Jafar medals in Score Rewards: at 7.5, 15, 20, and 30 million.  There are two Jafar-Genie medals in Score Rewards as well, both at 40 million.

There are up to (the equivalent of) eight Jafar medals in rankings.  The top 20k get one, the top 5k get two, the top 2k get three, and the top 1k get two three-dotted versions.  This means to guilt Jafar you need either 30 million in the Top 2k or any score in the top 1k.

There are up to (the equivalent of) five Jafar-Genie medals in rankings.  The top 5k get one, the top 2k get three, and the top 1k get five.  This means to guilt Jafar-Genie you need to be in the top 1k as well as score at least 40 million.  This will require above a 90% multiplier (which is at least four HD Axels/iXions). It hurts me to even type that…

Lastly, Power gems were added to the mix.  Top 5k get one, 2k get two, and 1k get three.  And to make it all worse, you only have the four days leading up to Christmas to finish the event!

*sigh*

Good luck.  Event ends 12/25.

HSC - Jack & Sally

I am beginning to detest these things.  They used to be my favorite content and now High Score Challenges just take me hours and hours to make the guides. >_<  Anyway…

Jack&Sally (J&S from now on) and Zero are your two medals this HSC.  Both are buff medals: Zero being Dispel+Cura AOE for 5 bars (similar to Belle) and J&S is +1 PSM (all attributes) strength and -1 PSM (all attributes) defense on all targets for two bars for two turns!  Thankfully, neither is worth guilting.

Zero you can take or leave - with No Cost, it can be useful.  But J&S is a downright godsend.  It’s basically going to be the new RAX - you’ll want it on every single keyblade.

So how do you get these nice new medals?

Zero is pretty easy.  Top 20,000 will get one.  There are also four in the HSC Rewards.  You can get seven by getting 10 million points + ranking in the top 1000.  But like I said, there’s no point in guilting him.

J&S is just a top 5000 reward.  If I recall, this was the same with RAX.

Your multipliers:

You’ll notice that the two top multipliers this time are both Sephiroth.  That’s pretty cool, since a lot of people have the first one (including me!) so you’re more likely to either a.) have it or b.) have a friend with it.  The 14% ones are obviously from this weeks EMC.  Then a lot of sevens.

So onto the main event.

When you go in, you’ll find three chests in front of you.  Each one has a corresponding pathway.  The green chest, for instance, is the pathway for Speed.  Once you leave the room, you can’t come back.  Basically, this is another “pick your path” HSC.  There seems to be some variation with Heartless in each pathway, but all in all the scores seem very similar.  Just go with what you are best at!

The Heartless you’ll find are as follows:

~*TARGET*~ Lv. 25 Jack O’ Lantern

Each second, third, and fourth room has a Special chest, which seem to increase in how much they give.

Hopefully my numbers are right.  It’s been a very long night…

Strategy: Pick a path.  Magic or Speed is probably best given what Sephiroths you can get your hands on.  Clearing rooms 1-3 is pretty easy and you shouldn’t have much trouble.  Clearing room four is impossible without a lot of DB2 luck, maybe Sleep+, and enough Save/Loads to wash away your sanity.  When you get there, grab a pack and do as much damage as you can before you die to pad out your score.  Picking a x3 enemy can give you a good boost if you have AOE, but the x2 packs can give you a second or third turn with some lucky DB2/Sleep+ procs.

Rewards are the usual.  Magic Mirrors, Chips, Dales, Cids… nothing special.

Alright, good luck!  Have fun!  Please don’t kick me out of the top 5k!  ^_^

ENDS 10/27!
