The thing is, emotions aren’t the exclusive domain of light or darkness. And there are different types of the same emotion. Righteous anger on behalf of loved ones is something I believe she’s capable of. And even if it weren’t, she could still feel a duty towards the people in her life that were hurt because of her role in Xehanort’s plans.

Eraqus is not a Princess of Heart and he still had darkness. I’m not saying light is all good, but a Princess of Heart cannot be overcome with darkness, including feelings like grudges that are clearly darkness. If Kairi were to hurt her friends, it’d be in an Aqua like fashion where she is possibly too hard on them, but Kairi is not going to go on a grudge induced mission to defeat the bad guy. She’d go after the bad guy to protect her friends and that’s it.

Eraqus had a ton of light, and he almost murdered a small child. He blamed it on darkness, but that was almost certainly self serving. Anyway, Aqua proved that light users could take harm done to their friends very personally.

Kairi is a Princess of Heart with no darkness. She’ll put all her energy into protecting her friends before she bothers to hold a grudge. A grudge is surely something of darkness.
